It won't take long for a dev to do an optimized build for the G1.
I think droid is very cool, but it's not the FIRST android phone – gotta remember that =D

Of course. But from a generic consumer perspective it could prove to be one of the best. One of the things I'm hopeful for is a drastically improved UI from the haxx0r community running on a rooted Droid. The UI is nice, clean, and apparently uncluttered, but I'm still a bit surprised that after 2+ years, the iPhone still has probably the best looking interface and interactivity.
